France will start intercepting small boats in English Channel following British demands
French officials have consented to begin stopping small boats in the English Channel, after an extended period of insistence from the UK.
This policy shift follows the Prime Minister sent a letter to the French leader asking him to back the initiative and stating there presently "have no effective deterrent" in the maritime passage.
French maritime police will be allowed to stop the migrant vessels at sea, but exclusively prior to they've collected their passengers, according to official statements.
French authorities have infrequently acted to prevent the overcrowded boats departing from the coastline because it is considered too great a danger to both personnel and individuals.
"It is essential that we deploy these tactics this month... We have zero effective prevention in the Channel waters."
